Local military veterans will receive free counseling and assistance with their government benefits from Disabled American Veterans Friday when Tilley Harley-Davidson, 653 Bendix Drive, hosts Harley’s Heroes.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sponsored by The Harley-Davidson Foundation since 2007, Harley’s Heroes has brought the DAV’s Mobile Service Office to hundreds of dealerships across the country, providing counseling and benefits assistance to tens of thousands of veterans and their families, a press release said.
DAV’s Mobile Service Office eliminates trips veterans would typically have to make from rural communities to city offices, the press release said. DAV National Service Officers, all disabled veterans, work from the fully staffed van to answer veterans’ questions about benefits for which they are eligible, even if they have never filed a claim or have encountered difficulty getting claims processed.
The local Harley’s Heroes event is hosted in conjunction with Tilley’s Veterans Appreciation Day. For more information, call the business at 704-638-6044.
