School and law enforcement officials discovered two East Rowan High School students had marijuana in two separate incidents occurring on the same day.
On Thursday, Assistant Principal Rick Vanhoy and school Resource Officer W.R Walker received information that two students possibly had drugs on them.
Upon searching, one student did not have anything. The other student, a 15-year-old male, did a have a plastic bag with marijuana in it. He also had a lighter, a Black & Mild cigar and rolling papers. The incident occurred around noon, a report said.
The student was issued a juvenile referral for simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, which was then turned over to juvenile services.
About an hour later, according to a department report, another student was suspected of having marijuana.
The student was searched, and a black and silver smoking pipe with marijuana residue was found in his pocket, according to the report.
The student, Leon Allen, 17, of Crescent Road, Rockwell, was issued a citation for simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
