Flags at half-staff Monday to honor late senator

Governor Perdue has ordered that all North Carolina flags on state facilities will be lowered to half-staff from dawn to dusk on Monday in tribute to State Sen. Jim Forrester, who died on Oct. 31, 2011. The honor is traditional for sitting legislators who die while in office. Interment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday at Arlington National Cemetery.
Forrester represented Gaston, Iredell and Lincoln counties for 11 terms.
