RALEIGH (AP) — Former Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain is traveling to North Carolina to rally his party’s faithful and raise money for a Triangle-area congressional candidate.
Cain was the scheduled keynote speaker tonight at the Wake County Republican Party convention being held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Earlier in the day, he was set to speak on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and appear at a lunch fundraiser for Bill Randall of Wake Forest, who is running in the 13th Congressional District primary.
Cain is the former chief executive officer of Godfather’s Pizza who moved ahead in the Republican presidential polls last year, then suspended his campaign amid allegations of sexual misconduct he called false. Cain threw his primary support to Newt Gingrich.
