The Salisbury Rowan Runners are partnering with Salisbury Parks and Recreation and Rowan Regional Medical Center to offer the 2012 spring class for beginning runners on Thursday.
The class is open to anyone who wants to improve their fitness by learning to run, and wants to train for a 5K (3.1 miles).
The class will be taught at Rowan Regional Medical Center in the meeting room near the information desk. Class time is 6 p.m. on each Thursday, and will begin with 30 minutes of classroom instruction, followed by a running session. Classroom instruction includes nutrition, stretching, strengthening, shoes and gear, running form, safety and injury prevention. All of these classes are taught by members of the Salisbury Rowan Runners who are professionals in their area of instruction.
Runners will receive individual coaching and will gradually increase their distance over the eight-week class. Bring a water bottle and be dressed for running the first night.
Cost is $60, which includes SRR club membership for one year, entry to the Bare Bones 5K in May and a club T-shirt. The fee is payable on the first night of the class.
This will be the last class offered until September. For more information, go to www.salisburyrowanrunners.org or call 704-310-6741 and 704-216-2709.
