SALISBURY — A 24-year-old man tried to run from deputies while they served a warrant for his arrest Thursday evening.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said officers went to 4330 U.S. 601 about 5 p.m. to arrest Alan Shane Hess on a driving while license revoked charge.
Deputies said when they arrived at the home, Hess fled through the back door.
An officer was waiting at the back door and Hess ran around the side of the house where he was taken into custody by Deputy C.J. Cauble.
Hess told officers his name was Johnny Waller.
A woman inside the house also told officers his name was Johnny.
But after deputies explained that they would arrest her if she was lying, she admitted to officers that he was Alan Hess.
Hess was charged with driving while license revoked and resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer.
He was in jail Friday under a $3,000 bond.
