South Yadkin canoe, kayak race May 12
The 25th annual South Yadkin canoe and kayak race will be held on Saturday, May 12.
The race will start at the 601 bridge and access on the South Yadkin River west of Salisbury and finish at the Salisbury Pump Station access at the confluence of the South and main Yadkin Rivers. The course, approximately six miles long, consists of flatwater with some current, depending on rains.
Entry cost for the race is $20 per person with a free race t-shirt for early entrants. Early entries must be postmarked by May 4. After May 4, the cost remains $20 but does not include the t-shirt.
Late entries and pre-race registration begins at 8 a.m. on May 12. A mandatory race meeting and canoe inspection will be held at 9:30 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m. A second start for solo canoe classes is at 11:30 a.m.
