SALISBURY — A memorial ceremony honoring two fallen firefighters will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Salisbury-Rowan Firefighters Memorial on South Main Street.
The ceremony will mark the four-year anniversary of the deaths of Salisbury firefighters Victor “Vic” Isler and Justin Monroe, who died fighting a blaze that destroyed Salisbury Millwork.
“We will never forget the sacrifice that those two made for the community here in Salisbury,” Salisbury Fire Chief Bob Parnell said.
South Main Street will be closed and traffic detoured onto Old South Main Street during the service from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., he said.
Firefighters from around the county have been invited to attend.
“It’s an honor for the firefighters to be able to participate in the memorial on their behalf,” Parnell said.
The ceremony is expected to last about 45 minutes.
The memorial is adjacent to Chestnut Hill Cemetery, 1400 S. Main St.
Parking will be available in the 1400 and 1500 blocks of South Main Street.
