Both directions of U.S. 64 just outside of Mocksville are now closed to traffic after a tractor-trailer jackknifed on the highway at 11:30 a.m. today. Law enforcement officers are working to remove the tractor-trailer, which is blocking both lanes of U.S. 64. The road is not expected to open for several hours.
The N.C. Department of Transportation has established detour routes to help drivers avoid the area.
• Motorists traveling on U.S. East should take I-40 East to N.C. 801 South back to U.S. 64 East.
• Motorists traveling on U.S. West should take N.C. 801 North to I-40 West back to U.S. 64 West.
NCDOT encourages drivers to go slow, pay attention and allow extra time to reach their destinations while the closure is in place.
