Elizabeth Withers Smith submitted this photograph of the 1950 Junior May Court in Spencer. Elizabeth, 10 years old at the time, is the May queen in this picture. Windsor Eagle, now principal of Salisbury High School, is the king (in the middle of the photograph). The May Court reflected the best fund-raisers for the Spencer School. “The May Day festivities were just wonderful things,” Elizabeth Smith said. She gave the names of other girls she knows were in the photograph. They include Crystal Johnson, Carolyn Cope, Joyce Honeycutt, Pat Lomax, Brenda Crowell, Jeanette Roderick and Faye Brandt.
