This year’s Gloeckler Awards presentation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 1 p.m., at VFW Post 3006, 1200 Brenner Ave. in Salisbury during a hot dog lunch sponsored by Post 3006 for the HSRC. Recipients will be treated to lunch.
VFW member Jack Cornatzer approached the HSRC after reading Mark Wineka’s Salisbury Post article on Chance, the elusive dog that roamed Salisbury and neighboring areas for months before being caught on Jan. 2 and taken into the care of the HSRC. Cornatzer offered to organize a fundraising event to benefit Chance and other dogs acquired by the HSRC. “There’ll always be a Chance,” he said, and currently the organization is caring for more than 30 cats and dogs that have come from similar circumstances.
The public is invited to attend this fundraiser which will be held from 11 a.m -3 p.m. and the presentation at 1 p.m.
