World Hope Worship Center welcomes the music and ministry of singer/songwriter Marvin Mumford on Sunday, Jan. 22, for the 10:30 a.m. service and the 5 p.m. “Night of Celebration.”
Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the service. Nursery care is provided.
World Hope Worship Center is located at 2203 Mooresville Road, near the intersection of Hwy 150 and Sherrills Ford Road.
Fairview Hts. dinner
A banquet dinner will be held in honor of the Rev. Clarence Marlin and Evangelist Cathye Marlin for their tenth anniversary at Fairview Heights Baptist Church.
The dinner is at the Holiday Inn on Jake Alexander Blvd. this evening, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Arthur Heggins of St. Luke Baptist Church.
Sunday’s 3 p.m. guest speaker will be the Rev. Cornelius Atkinson, pastor of Wilson Heights First Church of God, Charlotte, on Sunday, Jan. 22.
Oak Grove fundraiser
CHINA GROVE — Today from 4 to 7 p.m., Oak Grove United Methodist Church will host a chicken and dumpling fundraiser to raise money toward the purchase of a new church van.
Donations will be accepted. The meal includes chicken and dumplings, green beans, slaw, roll, dessert and drink.
Oak Grove is located at 4820 Hwy. 152 West.
Salem Lutheran
Salem Lutheran Church observes Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on Jan. 22 at Salem Spirit, the 8:30 a.m. contemporary service, and the traditional 10:45 a.m. worship service.
Kristi Greene, executive director of the Pregnancy Support Center in Salisbury, will be the guest speaker. Part of the offering for the service will be collecting items to support the ministry Center. Luther’s Lutheran
Luther’s Lutheran will hold a special youth-led worship service on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. Following the service there will be a pizza lunch to honor the young people. Special music will be provided by Emery Basinger and Taylor Kirk.
On Saturday Jan. 28, Luther’s will hold its annual Poor Man’s Supper at 6 p.m. Specialties include corn bread, greens, beans, homemade bread and other goodies.

Erwin Temple CME
COOLEEMEE — The Usher Board of Erwin Temple will have their annual Usher Day program on Sunday at 3 p.m., entitled “The 7 Ups.”
Seven persons will speak on the seven selected “ups.” Guest speakers are invited from area churches to participate. Ushers should be dressed in proper attire and will be seated together during the program. Joan Geter is president of the Usher Board and the Rev. Ervin Hannah Jr. is pastor.
Michael Thomas at Emmanuel
Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2300 Bringle Ferry Road, will have a Singing Sunday night, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. Local talent Michael Thomas is the special musical guest who will lead the service. There will be a love offering taken for Mr. Thomas.

Main Street Baptist
CHINA GROVE — Main Street Baptist Church, 1615 N. Main St., will hold its monthly Best of Main Street service on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to share their musical talent by performing at this service. After the service there will be finger foods and refreshments.
On Sunday Jan. 29 the singing group 4Ever His will present a gospel music program with refreshments after this concert also. Both services will start at 6 p.m .
Wellness luncheon
Trinity Wesleyan Church’s 55+ Ministries is sponsoring a Health and Wellness luncheon for adults of all ages on Thursday, Jan. 26 from noon to 1:30 p.m. A catered lunch will be provided by Sandy Ogg for $3 per person at noon with the program to follow from 12:45-1:30 pm.
Valerie Velte, RN from Rowan Regional Medical Center, will speak on “Making Healthy Resolutions for the New Year,” addressing topics such as nutrition, exercise, heart health, monitoring diabetes and other healthy living choices.

Doares’ ‘Immanuel’
The Rev. Dale Steele of LightShine Ministries will give a special gallery talk about exhibiting artist (posthumously) Robert Doares’ artwork “Immanuel, God with Us: The Life of Christ in Art.” The 54 panoramic scenes tell the story of Christ and became Mr. Doares’ offering of praise and worship to the Lord. Each drawing took 300 hours to complete and each painting averaged 600 hours to complete.
Church and youth groups are welcome. The dates of the gallery talks are Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 1:30 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 2 at 1:15 and 6 p.m.

New Beginnings

Lifeline TPC revival
Lifeline TPC will be in revival Wednesday-Friday, Jan. 25-27, at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The revival preacher is pastor Timothy Starkey, a native of Beckley, W.Va. His church is King’s Chapel in Abingdon, Va.

Outreach fundraiser
Outreach Christian Tabernacle will hold a chicken port-a-pit fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. until.

CONCORD — The Shiloh Baptist Church Mass Choir under the direction of Eddie Brown Jr. will host their 2012 Anniversary Musical Fellowship II on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m.
Musical presenters are The Livingstone College Gospel Choir of Salisbury; The Voices of Eden Choir from UNC-Charlotte; Wingate Community Choir, Wingate; The Anointed Vessels from Charlotte; The Clyburn-Saunders Family and Friends Choir of Charlotte; The Shiloh Baptist Men’s Praise Team and the Prophetic Praise Mimes of the Fisher of Men Ministry, Charlotte.

First UCC fifth Sunday
A Sunday school gathering of all classes, kindergarten through adult, will be held on Jan. 29, the Fifth Sunday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
The 2012 Green Church Team will lead the worship, the special message, the progress report on First UCC’s becoming a green church, the dos and don’ts of recycling, summer plans for VBS and special recycling crafts to be made as part of a church-wide bazaar/meal this fall. Beverages will be provided.
Visitors are welcome to come learn more about local opportunities to care for the earth and its resources as God’s gifts for sustaining life. First United Church of Christ is located at 207 West Horah St., where the Rev. Marcella Morton serves as interim pastor.
