SALISBURY — A Virginia man failed to successfully hide his face from a passing Rowan County deputy Tuesday, which brought attention and felony drug charges.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies noticed Rowland Jeffrey Rainey, 25, as he tried to hide from a deputies’ view as he traveled northbound on Interstate 85.
The deputy pulled behind the white Chevrolet Caprice and ran the tag, which came back to a registered owner with no valid driver’s license.
After stopping Rainey, authorities found the man was wanted in Virginia on felony charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of a handgun while in possession of narcotics, possession of less than 5 pounds of marijuana and a misdemeanor child support warrant.
Rainey, of 2620 Northchase Parkway SE, Apt. 102, Wilmington, was arrested and given a $40,000 bond.
He was in jail Thursday morning.
