KANNAPOLIS — A Salisbury man was arrested on Tuesday after police say he stole a woman’s van while she was pumping gas.
According to a Kannapolis Police report, 24-year-old Justin Dontae Bruce stolen a Chrysler Town & Country van from an older female as she pumped gas at Rushco Gas Station at 2595 N. Cannon Blvd.
The robbery happened just after midnight, police said.
The report said Bruce pushed the woman away from her vehicle, got in and left.
The woman called 911 and telecommunicators contacted Rowan County Telecommunications and Landis and China Grove Police departments.
As communications gave out details to patrol officers, police said, a Landis Police officer stated that he had see a vehicle matching the description pass by shortly before the notification.
Two China Grove police officers stopped the van near the intersection of N.C. 29 North and Lentz Street.
Bruce, of 1214 Celebration Drive, was arrested and charged with felony common law robbery.
He was in jail Tuesday under a $20,000 bond.
