CHINA GROVE — South Rowan Regional Library will present live music with guitarist Moon Mullins and flutist Meryl Vogh, and classical guitarist Rob Howle, on Thursday, Dec. 22.
Howle will play from 2-3 p.m., and Mullins and Vogh will play from 3-5 p.m. Join us anytime during the afternoon to enjoy festive music and light refreshments.
Comer “Moon” Mullins is a singer and songwriter, but prefers to pick the guitar. He is one of the most decorated practitioners of the guitar technique known as thumb picking. Among his many accolades is his 1996 title of “Champion of Champions” of the International Thumb Picking Contest at Central City, Ky.
Mullins’ repertoire includes traditional ballads and folk music as well as popular songs from the 1860s to the 1960s. He has performed on radio, screen, television and stage, and performed regularly at the Ozark Folk Center.
A native of Florida, Meryl Vogh received her bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Florida. She taught piano and flute for a number of years, including at the Oasis School of Music. Currently, she is involved in composing and recording her own pieces, as well as playing in different venues in the area.
Rob Howle has played classical guitar for over 25 years. He has performed both locally and statewide, and currently works at the South Rowan Regional Library.
