A 23-year-old was charged Sunday with stealing two firearms from his grandfather.
A Salisbury Police report said Maurice Miller, 1017 Bringle Ferry Road, told authorities he took the guns “for protection.”
But Miller lost the weapons after he was assaulted in the Spee-Dee parking lot, 402 Park Ave., police said.
Miller had “blood on his shirt and a busted lip,” when officers arrived but stopped cooperating when police began investigating the stolen handguns, according to the report.
Miller was charged with two counts of felony larceny of a firearm. He was given a $2,500 bond.
Salisbury Police said they are continuing to investigate the assault and the stolen handguns.
