SALISBURY — A Salisbury couple is in jail after officers said a domestic dispute led to a woman stabbing her boyfriend in the arm with a kitchen knife.
A Salisbury Police report said Thurmond Cowan, 62, assaulted girlfriend Iris Smith at their home about 1:45 p.m. Monday.
After being assaulted, the report said, Smith grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Cowan in the right arm as he tried to assault her again.
When officers arrived at 304 N. Clay St., police said Cowan, who was found with a .25-caliber handgun in his possession, shoved an officer as they spoke to him. The report said Cowan appeared “very intoxicated.”
Smith, 51, was charged with misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury.
Cowan was taken to the hospital, but was treated and released.
He was then charged with misdemeanor assault on a female and misdemeanor assault on a law enforcement officer.
Neither were issued bonds because of the domestic incident.
