Faith briefs: New Shepherd Baptist in Cooleemee honors associate pastor

COOLEEMEE ó New Shepherd Baptist Church of Cooleemee honors their associate pastor, the Rev. Frances Johnson-Ellis, for her years of dedicated service. The celebration will be observed during the 8 a.m. service on Sunday, Nov. 27.
Guest soloists will be Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hargrave of Charlotte and guest speaker will be Mrs. Melvinia Kesler-Cummings of Atlanta, Ga.
Gethsemane Baptist
Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church celebrates it 85th anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 10:45 a.m.
Guest speaker the Rev. Marvin T. Clowney will honoring the charter members of the church as well as the oldest and youngest active members.
Clowney, a native of Kannapolis, is a graduate of A.L. Brown High School, holds a Bachelor in Theology Degree from Sugar Creek School of Religion in Charlotte and a Master of Divinity with Languages from Campbell Divinity School, Buies Creek.
He is an instructor at Sampson County College of Theology and the Dean of Ushers of the General Baptist State Convention of NC and is currently pastor of Christ Missionary Baptist Church of Salemburg.
The Rev. Dr. C. L. Phelps is host pastor.
Jerusalem Baptist
Jerusalem Baptist Church will celebrate Deacon, Deaconess and Trustee Day on Sunday Nov. 27 during the 11 a.m. service. The Rev. George McCormick, associate minister of St. John Baptist Church of Asheboro, will be the speaker. Wear designated attire for your auxiliary.
Special music will be rendered by Jerusalemís combined choir under the direction of Keith Holland, minister of music.
James Staley is Deacon chairman, Addie Hargrave is Deaconess president and Otis Ijames is chairman of the Trustees.
The Rev. David Bracken is senior pastor at Jerusalem, which is located at 1570 N. Long St. Extension.
Hallís Chapel
Hallís Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Matronís Stewardship will be Sunday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. The Rev. Ricky Johnson, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church of Granite Quarry, is in charge of the service.
Resurrection Life
Resurrection Life Church, 216 S. Main St., will begin the Christmas holiday season with a 6 p.m. service on Sunday, Nov. 27 entitled ěCome…and Behold Him.î The service will include dressing the house of worship for the Christmas season and answering the questions that many folks ask or ponder about this season: why the lights, the greenery and the gift giving?

Live Nativity
Southside Baptist Church, 500 Morlan Park Road, will present a live nativity scene on Dec. 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and on Dec. 2 and 3 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. There will be free light refreshments available for visitors.
