A delivery man called police Tuesday morning after he saw the front door of Jeter’s Deli had been kicked in.
According to Salisbury Police, the burglar shattered a glass pane in the front window before he broke into the restaurant and stole a cash register.
Officers said the register contained about $250 in cash and the register itself was valued at $500.
The credit card machine was also damaged in the incident and police said the register’s receipt tape trailed along through the front door at 702 W. Jake Alexander Blvd.
The stolen register was listed as a white Royal cash register.
The report was filed at about 1:22 a.m. and investigators believe the incident happened shortly before.
Salisbury Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the incident.
