Fann Bare says this photograph from the “Civitan Shooting Stars” production of Nov. 7-8, 1952, held on what is today’s China Grove Elementary School stage, came from thousands of photographs left behind by her late brother, Earl B. Cavin. Bare knows the names of several people in the photograph, which includes her father, Earl H. Cavin, who is on the back row, far right. Her father’s other band members in the back row, from left, are Fred Freeze, George Ray Kirk and Elbert Heigler. Shirley Tate is the first girl on the far left, and her sister, Avis, is sitting at the piano on the far right. Cecelia Garver is wearing a hat and is the fifth girl from the left.
