Police arrest Albemarle man on drug charges

SALISBURY — Police arrested an Albemarle man on Thursday after officers said he was carrying 23 grams of marijuana, smoking pipes and digital scales in his car.
Salisbury Police said Bryan Matthew Balser, 24783 Austin Road, was stopped for a routine traffic stop on East Innes at about 1:50 a.m.
Officers said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana from the 21-year-old’s Pontiac Vibe.
Police searched the car and found nearly an ounce of marijuana and $132 in cash in the center console.
The report said officers also found marijuana seeds and stems in the passenger floorboard.
Balser was charged with felony maintaining a dwelling, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was released after posting a $5,500 bond.
