NWS issues tornado warning

The National Weather Service has now issued a tornado warning for Rowan County in addition to the tornado watch.
Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado three miles southwest of Mooresville or 16 miles south of Statesville moving east at 45 mph. The tornado warning expires at 6:15 p.m. this evening.
The tornado watch, which may include hail up to one inch in diameter accompanied by thunderstorms with wind gusts to 70 mph expires at midnight
Precautionary/preparedness actions:
Mobile homes and vehicles should be abandoned for sturdier shelter. Otherwise, go to an interior room on the lowest level of your home or place of business. Make sure there are as many walls and floors between you and the outside as possible.
