Expect traffic congestion on Jake Alexander at Julian Road

Motorists traveling on Julian Road in Salisbury this week may encounter congestion as crews haul dirt from the west side of the road to the east side of the road near the intersection with Jake Alexander Boulevard. The earthwork is necessary to prepare for widening work and improvements at the intersection.
Weather permitting, the hauling work will occur on Thursday and Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Additional work days may be needed following the Thanksgiving holiday.
To help ensure motorist and worker safety while the hauling is under way, the right lane of Jake Alexander Boulevard from the U.S. 29 bridge to the intersection with Julian Road will remain closed to traffic through Friday.
Motorists may experience some congestion in the work zone, so the N.C. Department of Transportation encourages them to go slowly, follow construction-related signs and allow plenty of time to reach their destinations safely.
