SALISBURY — Authorities were searching Tuesday evening for a man who robbed the Rushco convenience store at 1901 W. Innes St. in broad daylight.
Salisbury Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said the man got in line shortly after 4 p.m. as if he intended to buy something. The clerk rang up the purchase and the man placed the money on the counter.
When the clerk reached out to pick up the money, the man pulled out a handgun and demanded all the cash in the register, Lingle said.
The man then left the store, at the corner of Innes and Statesville Boulevard, on foot, but witnesses weren’t immediately able to tell police the direction he took.
The robber is described as a black man with a thin build in his late 50s wearing a black hat, black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The store was closed Tuesday afternoon as Salisbury Police processed the scene, dusting for fingerprints and interviewed witnesses.
There are surveillance cameras at the store.
No one was injured during the robbery.
