I-85 north lane closing Wednesday

Published 12:00 am Tuesday, October 25, 2011

The N.C. Department of Transportation will close the right lane of Interstate 85 northbound just north of Exit 81 (Long Ferry Road) near Salisbury on Wednesday for repairs. Erosion has caused dirt to shift along the roadside leading up to the I-85 bridge over Hackett Street, creating a hole. Crews will use concrete to repair it.
Weather permitting, the work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end by 3 p.m. Motorists may experience some congestion in the work zone, so the Transportation Department encourages them to go slowly and allow plenty of time to reach their destinations safely.
