Kannapolis teacher receives award
Steve Fulton, an eighth-grade English teacher at Kannapolis Middle School, has received the Outstanding English Teacher Award from the North Carolina English Teachers Association.
This statewide award recognizes Fulton’s outstanding achievements as a leader in providing excellent English education.
Fulton was honored at the organization’s annual conference on Sept. 30. He also facilitated a session on digital writing.
“To be recognized on such a large scale for doing what I love is an incredible honor, but it’s also humbling, “ Fulton said.“In the context of my journey as an educator, this honor is a milestone, not an ending place, and I am excited to continue the learning process alongside my colleagues and students.”
Fulton has taught English for nine years at Kannapolis Middle School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in middle grades education from Ohio University and his Master of Education degree from UNC-Charlotte.
He also has earned certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, which is teaching’s highest credential.
