Man charged with taking $11,000 in jewelry from neighbor

A Salisbury man was charged Monday after officers said he stole more than $10,000 in jewelry while his next-door neighbor was out of town.
According to Salisbury Police, Richard Steven Kelly was charged with felony larceny after breaking into Debra Burnett’s apartment at 309 W. Council St. and taking $11, 475 in jewelry. The incident was reported on Sept. 22.
Authorities said the man then took the stolen goods to Frank’s Pawn Shop at 107 N. Main St.
Kelly, 24, was given a $10,000 bond and was in jail on Tuesday.
