Published 12:00 am Friday, September 30, 2011

Time: 7:30 p.m.
Records: North Moore 0-5, 0-2; North Rowan 1-5, 0-2
Series: North Rowan leads 2-0
Last meeting:T.J. Allen threw for 141 yards in a 42-14 win by the Cavaliers in Robbins in 2010.
North Rowan also smashed the Mustangs 49-0 in the first meeting of the YVC’s green-and-gold schools in Spencer in 2009.
Last game: North Moore was trampled for 374 rushing yards and shelled 42-0 by YVC opponent South Davidson on Friday; North Rowan lost at East Montgomery 23-20 on Monday, so the Cavaliers have had a shorter time to prepare.
Next week: North Moore is home against East Montgomery; North Rowan is at Albemarle
Game notes: While it’s probably not a great idea for a 1-5 team to take anything for granted, the Cavaliers, who have dropped three straight since beating East Rowan, should win tonight when they play their first YVC home game.
A very young North Moore team has been outscored 232-32 to this point. North Rowan has put 71 on the board, while allowing 142.
North Moore’s defense has basically been a get-well card for the opposition, allowing 40-plus points every week and 50-plus twice. That’s the sort of stuff that will get you invited for homecoming festivities four or five times in 2012.
As usual, North Moore has very small numbers and must play quite a few guys both ways. Leaders for coach Greg Simmons’ Mustangs are expected to be lineman/linebacker Dustin Lyerly, cornerback/RB Billy Person, RB Darius Green and LB Kyle Kidd.
Positives for North Rowan on Monday included a season-high 204 rushing yards, with Johnny Oglesby and Xavier Robinson doing the damage. Robinson scored two TDs.
