Come and enjoy locally grown produce for the next two Fridays, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7, from the China Grove Farmer’s Market.
This Friday will be the last day for the watermelon contest. For more information call Alan Goodman at 704-857-5938.
Last Friday, Stayman apples were washed, put in the hopper of the apple press, ground up and squeezed for fresh apple juice. The juice could be stored in the refrigerator for approximately one week and would become apple cider. Most juice is made from more than one variety of apples. The Stayman apple juice was delightfully tart. The pulp collected was to be available for deer hunters to purchase on Saturday morning at Goodman Farm Supply to feed to the deer. The pulp can also be fed to livestock. All parts of the apple were used.
Miller and Sons Produce continue to have an excellent selection of in season vegetables to include okra, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, etc. and farm fresh eggs. They continue to be faithful and dependable in coming every week with a wide selection of vegetables.
Bruce Miller Farm had sweet potatoes, bell peppers, and turnips.
Support you local farmers and come to the China Grove Farmer’s Market for a fun and educational experience at the China Grove Roller Mill Museum each Friday from 4-7 p.m. Market ends Oct 7.
