SALISBURY — Deputies say a man hid under a waterbed to avoid arrest Sunday.
Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies were serving arrest warrants charging Billie Harrison Smith III, 24, of 6445 Woodleaf Road, with failing to appear in court on two probation violations when deputies say he hid under the waterbed.
Smith told deputies he hid because he wasn’t ready to go to jail. Deputies charged him with resisting a public officer.
Smith was being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on $20,500 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 8.
