SALISBURY — A 17-year-old Concord teen was arrested Friday morning after deputies say the battery of the stolen vehicle he was driving died.
Deputies reported that they found Tyler Bastian Carpenter, 118 Long Ave., Concord, standing outside the stolen 1995 gold Nissan Altima with jumper cables at about 7 a.m. on Friday after responding to calls about a suspicious vehicle.
Carpenter told authorities that the car’s battery died while he was on Settler’s Grove Lane, off Old Concord Road, in Salisbury. He said he borrowed the vehicle from a friend and was traveling to Lexington.
Deputies called the owner of the vehicle, a Concord resident, who told authorities that the vehicle had been stolen.
Carpenter was charged with felony possession of stolen goods.
He was released after posting a $3,500 bond.
