Local law enforcement officers worked together Tuesday night to arrest two people accused of attacking a China Grove Police officer.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jeremy Huffman responded to assist with a domestic disturbance call at 908 S. Bostian St., China Grove, at about 11:35 p.m.
When Huffman arrived, the report said, China Grove Officer A. Bridges was “in an active fight with an unknown male.”
When Huffman drew his Taser, the man, later identified as 19-year-old Tyrees Bennett, immediately stopped fighting.
While officers were restraining the man, Pam Jones, who also lives at the residence, walked up and ignored officers’ requests for her to back away. She was then arrested for resisting, obstructing and delaying an officer.
Deputy Huffman reported that Jones had earlier attempted to jump on officer Bridges’ back as he fought with Bennett.
Both were charged with misdemeanor assault on a law enforcement officer.
Bennett was given a $2,500 bond. He was in jail on Wednesday. Jones was released after posting bond.
