RSS test scores improve in some areas

Although the Rowan-Salisbury School System continues to lag behind the state and national averages in Scholastic Aptitude Test performance, the district saw a 26 point increase in combined critical reading, math and writing scores this year.
The district’s average score grew from 1,396 to 1,422 this year. The statewide average is 1,475, down 10 points from last year. The national average also fell nine points this year from 1,509 to 1,500.
East Rowan High School, North Rowan, Salisbury and South scores saw increase this year, while Carson and West Rowan’s averages dipped.
