The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch that includes Rowan and Cabarrus counties lasting from noon today through Wednesday morning.
Heavy rainfall is expected over the greater Piedmont area with widespread to moderate rainfall. Total rainfall tonight is expected to range from four to seven inches, potentially resulting in flash flooding in areas around creeks and streams.
The flooding may be come widespread as heavy rain continues tonight.
