I-85 backed up southbound at Webb Road

Reports from travelers on Interstate 85 said southbound lanes were slowed to a near standstill at 8:30 p.m. There was no word on the cause of the holdup.
Earlier, portions of Interstate 85 in Davidson County were at a standstill due to a multi-vehicle collision. North Carolina Highway Patrol officers went to the scene of the accident. A spokesperson with the department did not know how long it would be before traffic flow returned to normal.
