Kannapolis investigation ends in arrests

KANNAPOLIS — During an ongoing investigation completed by the Kannapolis Vice and Narcotics Unit, a three-month undercover operation ended Aug. 27, when members began arresting six suspected drug traffickers.
Members of the agency began serving warrants on these six individuals wanted on 31 criminal charges.
The operation was conducted with the assistance of confidential informants in an effort to address citizen complaints of street level sale of drugs.
Those charged include:
• Tyrell Maurice Sloan, 34, 509 Dodge St. — continuing criminal enterprise, conspiracy to traffic heroin, two counts of possession of heroin, possession of marijuana.
• John Mark Adkins, 45, also of 509 Dodge St. — conspiracy to traffic heroin, two counts of possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, trafficking in opium, two counts of maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
• James Warren Anderson, 41, 522 Broad St. — conspiracy to traffic heroin, possession of heroin, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances.
• Lorei Anne Cowherd, 44, also of 509 Dodge St. — conspiracy to traffic heroin, traffic in opium, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Samantha Leann Clendenin, 28, 151 Oak Forest Drive, Statesville — conspiracy to traffic heroin, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Charles James Davis Jr., 43, 216 Rose Ave. — maintain a dwelling for controlled substances.
