SALISBURY — A brief power outage left nearly 2,700 Rowan County residents without electricity this afternoon.
According to Duke Energy’s website, 2,938 people in the company’s North Carolina service area were without power around 12:30 p.m. Of that number, 2,688 were in Rowan, concentrated mainly in the Salisbury, Spencer and East Spencer areas.
A Duke Energy spokeswoman said “an equipment issue” caused the outage. She did not have more detailed information.
She said the outage lasted about five minutes, and everyone who lost power should have it restored now.
