Man accused of firing handgun into residence

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was charged Sunday afternoon after authorities say he fired a handgun into a residence on July 31.
According to the Magistrate’s Office, Kevin Toomer, 22, fired the gun into 816 W. Fisher St. while children were in the home.
Toomer was charged with possession of a felony firearm by a felon, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
Toomer, 906 Seventh St., Spencer, was convicted in September 2009 of felony common law robbery.
He was given a $20,000 bond and was in jail Sunday night.
Toomer is scheduled to be in court at 9 a.m. today.
