Will politicians get the message?
This letter is in response to the Aug. 22 “My Turn” column by Ronnie Adcock (“Politicians, your job performance concerns us).
I read your article with great interest. When I finished reading it, I wondered why the people who receive the Salisbury Post were reading it. This is an article I eventually realized we all needed to read.
But the people who need to read it more are the people who are running our country. This letters needs to be sent to the people in Congress, the Senate and, yes, the president.
Please, Mr. Adcock, send this letter to these people. They need to be put on notice, both Democrats and Republicans. Nothing else has helped; maybe this letter will open their eyes.
The rest of America is suffering because of their decisions, but not them.

New school year offers a new start
I am a student at Knox Middle School. As always, I am nervous about the new school year. I am also excited. I encourage all students, staff and parents to start this year with a positive attitude. We all have a lot to be grateful for: our community coming together to better our school, a new principal who wants Knox to shine, fresh paint and a cleaner school. Let’s all continue on this path and have hopes of a better school year in every way.
Thank you to everyone who has cared about my school and worked so hard to help it be better. I know that the examples set by the volunteers at Knox have inspired me to want to be more active in community service and increased my awareness of those around me that might need help in some way.

Correction
The tagline of an Aug. 21 editorial page column by Bruce La Rue erroneously stated that he lives in Woodleaf. La Rue lives in Mt. Ulla, and editorial page editor Chris Verner apologizes for the abrupt and unnecessary dislocation of the La Rue household. “I don’t know who was more upset,” Mr. La Rue relates, “my wife or the citizens of Woodleaf.”
