A Salisbury man is in jail with a $102,500 bond Friday morning after police say he had 57 tablets of oxycontin in his possession and swallowed a bag of crack cocaine.
According to a Salisbury Police report, Kenneth Swann was stopped on North Green Street in his black 1996 Infinity J30 at about 5:40 p.m. Thursday afternoon because his rear window was illegally tinted.
Officers reported that the car had a strong odor of marijuana and air fresheners.
After searching the vehicle, Salisbury Police found 57 pills of oxycontin and placed the 31-year-old under arrest. Police also seized $223 from the vehicle.
As the man was being escorted into the police department, officers reported that the man was “walking stiff-legged.”
At that time a small bag of crack cocaine fell out of the man’s underwear, the report said. Before officers could get it, the man picked up the bag and swallowed it.
Moments later a second bag fell from the man’s underwear and police were able to retain the controlled substance.
Officers reported that the crack cocaine weighed .11 ounces. The report estimated that the initial bag was about the same size.
Swann was given medication to help retrieve the bag. He was also given medication to help prevent injury if the bag were to burst.
Swann, of 1614 Standish St., was charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer, two counts of felony trafficking opium derivatives and maintaining a vehicle for keeping and storing prescription pills.
Swann was also wanted for a probation violation for driving while license revoked and miscellaneous traffic violations in 2010.
