Another Rowan County Junior Dairy Show has come and gone, with great anticipation and participation from the dairy community and families of Rowan County. The whole dairy community truly is a family.
The show started at the Rowan County Fairgrounds with Cloverbud Showmanship, children ages 5-8, and participating were: Hailey Correll and Lauren Hayes.
Junior Showmanship (ages 9-12) was won by Jonathan Luther, followed by Victoria Moore and Luke Hager.
Lauren Luther won Intermediate Showmanship (ages 13-15), with Jacob Watson placing second and Chris Martin placing third.
Steven Wetmore earned top honors in Senior Showmanship (ages 16-19), followed by Brooke Smith and Paul Shaver.
Showmanship is evaluated based on the exhibitorís ability to show the animal. In other words, who is the best exhibitor and makes the animal look its best.
Chris Martin exhibited the Grand Champion Brown Swiss, with a 4 year-old cow, while Sam Hager exhibited the Junior Champion Brown Swiss.
Colby Menius exhibited the Grand Champion Holstein, with a Spring Calf. Sam Hager exhibited the Senior Champion Holstein.
The Grand Champion Jersey was exhibited by Jonathan Luther, with a fall yearling.
A huge thank you goes to the area businesses that support the show, the Rowan County Fair Association, and the Rowan County Holstein Club.
