CHARLOTTEó Former Carolina Panthers safety Mike Minter is Johnson C. Smith University’s newest assistant football coach.
The Charlotte-based Division II school announced Friday that it had added Minter to its staff as its assistant head coach and defensive pass game coordinator.
Minter had a team-record 954 tackles during his 10-year career with the Panthers before retiring in 2007. He spent the past three years coaching a high school team in nearby Concord.
