SALISBURY — Authorities have charged a 22-year-old man with sex offenses against a teenage girl.
Jacob Andrew Smith, of 747 Barringer Road, is in the Rowan County jail under $100,000 bond.
Smith is charged with six counts of taking indecent liberties with children and six counts of statutory rape of a 13-, 14- or 15-year-old.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the offenses were initially reported July 17. Smith and the girl began a relationship in December that ended in May, but he continued to call and harass her, authorities said. Her parents called the Sheriff’s Office.
