SALISBURY — Charges against a home health care provider accused of taking pills from a patient in December have been dropped.
On Dec. 28, Carol Chavis, of Richfield, accused Taylor Vuncannon, 20, of Salisbury, who worked for Bayada Nurses, of taking 45 Xanax tablets and 24 hydrocodone pills.
Chavis told authorities Vuncannon was the only one left unattended with the ability to take them. Vuncannon had been assisting Tanner for about a year.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Vuncannon in March.
The state had no evidence to present at an Aug. 3 hearing and so the Rowan County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the case against Vuncannon.
“My client is happy it was dismissed so she can move forward,” Vuncannon’s attorney, Greg Jones said.
