ROCKWELL — A Rockwell man was arrested and charged with drunk and disorderly conduct after telling deputies to “take off their badge” so they could fight, a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report said.
According to the report, Bobby Joe Upright, 37, was confronted by deputies at about 9:30 p.m. at his home at 960 Carter Loop Road in Rockwell after several calls about a disturbance.
After arriving, deputies were contacted by two bystanders who explained that Upright had assaulted them.
The report said Upright was in the home’s front yard yelling and cursing at neighbors.
After authorities arrived, Upright began verbally attacking the officers. After deputies drew their Tasers©, Upright taunted them, telling them to “take off their badge” so he could fight them.
Deputies reported that Upright was “mouthy” but did not want to be shocked.
Upright was restrained and arrested and received a $1,000 bond.
