On June 20, St. Matthews/San Mateo Episcopal Church on Highway 70 West, in concert with sister church Good Shepherd Episcopal in Cooleemee, kicked off vacation Bible school on the St. Matthews
campus.
This year’s theme was “Hometown Nazareth.”
On Monday night the campus was transformed into a village market place, lined with open air shops and tents filled with wares one would have seen in Jesus’ day. There was a carpentry shop, a pottery vendor, a dye-cloth merchant, a bead maker and synagogue. The adult leaders dressed in authentic period garments to depict the era.
The youth director is Teresa Houck.
