The N.C. Department of Transportation is closing a 2-mile section of Interstate 85 South near the Yadkin River on Saturday, Sunday and Monday to demolish the N.C. 150 bridge over the interstate.
The closure will extend from milemarker 83 (N.C. 150) to Clark Road (Exit 85). On all three days, it will start at midnight and end at 6 a.m. the following day, weather permitting.
During the closure, motorists traveling on I-85 South must take the following detour route:
Take the Clark Road exit (Exit 85);
Turn right at the top of the exit ramp;
Turn left onto Old Salisbury Road;
Turn left onto the N.C. 150 on-ramp and follow it back to I-85 South.
The demolition work is part of the I-85 Corridor Improvement Project. Crews will demolish the N.C. 150 bridge over I-85 South on Saturday and Sunday. They tore down the N.C. 150 bridge over I-85 North on Wednesday.
In their place, contractor Flatiron-Lane will build a reconfigured, more efficient interchange.
