KANNAPOLIS — A Kannapolis man has been charged with felony heroin possession after police found black tar on wax paper inside his car.
Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement team was conducting traffic enforcement Wednesday on Enochville Road when they noticed a man pull into the Dollar General without a seatbelt.
Police approached the car and asked the driver, Joshua McNeely for his license.
McNeely, 31, of 169 Chics Ponds Road, Kannapolis, gave police an identification card because his license had been suspended.
Sifford said police asked McNeely to step out of the vehicle and requested to search it.
They seized about .04 ounces of heroin from the car and $135 in cash.
McNeely has been charged with felony possession of heroin, driving while license revoked, fictious registration and a seatbelt violation.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond. He was not listed among the inmates this evening.
