FAITH ó Faith Baptist Church will host a patriotic concert Sunday, July 3 at 5 p.m. The Fourth of July Chorus, composed of voices from 15 area churches, will perform musical selections chosen specifically to honor all veterans and those who are currently on active duty.
All who have served or are enlisted in the U.S. Military at this time are encouraged to wear their uniform and be recognized. Those attending are encouraged to wear patriotic colors.
The chorus, directed by Jason Harwood, will be accompanied by Susan Trivette on the piano. Dr. Karl Hales will narrate. Daisy Bost is organizer of the event and there is no admission charge.
Rowan County churches represented are Organ Lutheran, Faith Lutheran, Faith Baptist, First Presbyterian-Salisbury, St. Lukeís Episcopal-Salisbury, Mt. Hope UCC, First UCC-Salisbury, St. Paulís Lutheran, St. Johnís Lutheran-Salisbury, Grace Lutheran, Christiana Lutheran, First Baptist-Salisbury, Mt. Zion UCC-China Grove, Shiloh United Methodist- Granite Quarry and also All Saints Lutheran- Bowie, Md.
Prior to the concert, the Shrine Band will entertain with familiar selections beginning at 4 p.m. Following the concert food and amusement rides will be available at Faith Legion Park, across the street from the church. Parking is free. Faith Baptist Church is located on Main Street in Faith.
Faith Lutheran
FAITH ó Faith Lutheran Church celebrates freedom on Sunday, July 3. The special worship celebration begins with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., followed by the joint service of FaithWorks and the traditional service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The service features special music, presentation of the American and Christian flags by Cub Scout Thomas Stewart, Boy Scout Zachary Stewart and Pack Master of Pack #351 Donald Stewart, as well as Holy communion.
John Calvin
John Calvin Presbyterian Church begins Ten@10 on the 4th of July weekend through Labor Day weekend (10 weeks), when worship time moves to 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Ten@10 is a summerís journey through the parables of Jesus, including challenges such as committing to ten minutes a day spent in prayer and bringing ten cans of food for Rowan Helping Ministry.
After worship light refreshments will be served.

Providence UMC
Providence United Methodist Church, 6450 Bringle Ferry Road, will host Heritage Day on Sunday morning, July 3, an annual celebration of Providenceís heritage and roots in the community. It is also a celebration of the Fourth of July and the birth of our country.
Following the 10:30 a.m. worship service will be a cookout, horse shoe tournament and games for the children.

New Beginning
CONCORD ó Sunday, July 3 is Friends and Family Day at New Beginning Church of God, with speaker co-pastor Chavis Maxwell at 11 a.m.
On Friday, July 8 is a gospel birthday bash for Saisha Roseman, New Beginningís minister of music. The program starts at 7:30 p.m.
New Beginning is located at 5717 Alexander Road, led by Bishop Gene Roseman.
St. Johnís Lutheran
St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., will hold a Celebration of Liberty at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 3.
Special music beginning at 10:50 a.m. will be provided by the St. Johnís Menís Chorus, the St. Johnís Vacation Bible School Choir and a brass trio.
The Rev. Rhodes Woolly is senior pastor, the Rev. Jan Huntley is pastor for discipleship and outreach and Rob Durocher is director of music ministries.
Calvary Baptist
ěThe Influence of the Bible on Americaî will be shown at Calvary Baptist Church this Sunday, July 3, at 6 p.m.
The Bibleís profound influence on America, widely understood by previous generations, is largely unrecognized today. This video documents the impact of the Bible on American life and culture over the past four centuries.
The video is hosted by David Barton, the founder of Wall Builders, an organization dedicated to presenting Americaís forgotten history and heroes. Rated: G ń (90 minutes).

Henderson Grove VBS
Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School July 5-8 from 6-8:30 p.m.
This yearís theme is ěLet Jesus Use You.î There will be lessons, games, crafts and refreshments, with a closing program on Sunday, July 10 at the 11 a.m. service.

Hallís Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 611 E. Monroe St., will hold Vacation Bible School Tuesday-Friday, July 5-8 from 6-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
There will be classes for pre-school to adult with the theme of ěJesus Truth Seekers: Mission Possible!î The closing program will be July 9 at noon, followed by a cookout.
Camp meeting
The week-long camp meeting ěFire From Heaven in 2011î will be held July 5-12 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Services will be held at 722 W. Horah St.

New pastor at Salisbury Christian
The Rev. James D. Howard, BA, MA, has been voted in as pastor at Salisbury Christian Fellowship, 210 W. Ritchie Road.
Howard, a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer, has been in pastoral ministry for more than 30 years, has taught the Word of God on numerous local and national radio stations, and spent seventeen years as co-owner of Charlotte Scale Company while also serving in ministry.
He holds a Master of Arts in Theology and is currently completing his dissertation for Doctor of Ministries.
Ebenezer scholarships
CHINA GROVE ó This yearís recipients of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church Endowment Fund Scholarship are Kirsten Beaver of Graham, Mark Campbell of Raleigh, Savannah Goodnight of China Grove and Caroline Todd of Lawrenceville, Ga. Each will receive $500 toward a college education.
