One person was ticketed Saturday at the Salisbury Pride event.
Police charged a 74-year-old woman from Colfax with assault after she kissed a protesting street preacher on the mouth. The woman was supporting the Pride event, a first for Salisbury that attracted some 2,000 people to East Fisher Street.
It was the only arrest of the day. Though police and volunteers interrupted several heated arguments between protestors and participants, the event was generally free of incidents. Police ticketed the woman and gave her a court date. She was then asked to leave the event and complied, Collins said. Several protestors also were asked to leave. Read more in Sunday’s Post.
